Barbara J. Hicks

Barbara J. Hicks, formerly of Talala, OK passed away May 24, 2019 in Tucson, AZ where she had lived for the past 5 years. She was born April 3, 1931 in Lipan, TX to Archibald F. and Velma D. (Cox) Coe. She was an active member of Talala Christian Church most of her life.  She worked with the Ladies Auxiliary at the Higeons-Clemmens American Legion Post 337 in Talala as well as cooking once a week for Senior Citizens along with other ladies.  She founded the Talala Historical Society and helped maintain the Talala Historical Museum.  She was the Postmaster of Talala Post Office for 25 years.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the Talala Christian Church with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Interment took place at an earlier date.

She is survived by her brother: Tom Coe, a daughter:  Earleen Sweger DeVore, grandchildren:  Joshua Fisher and Miranda Fisher Brown.

She is also survived by several great-grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
