Willie L. Mendell

William “Willie” L. Mendell of Talala, OK, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2007 in Tulsa, OK. He was born October 23, 1930 to his parents Carson and Gladys (Thomason) Mendell in Talala. Willie was a lifetime resident of the area and worked on his ranch until his retirement. He loved the Rodeo way of life and was a former member of the Oklahoma Cattleman’s Association and the International Professional Rodeo Association. He touched the live of many and will be missed by all.

Willie is survived by 3 Children, Paul Mendell and his Wife Connie of Vinita, Curtis Mendell and his Wife Vicki of Talala, and Sharon Mendell of the home; 1 Sister, Thelma Henderson and her Husband Melton of Claremore; 6 Grandchildren, Ryan Kay, Phillip Lee, and Baylee Jewel Mendell, Whitney and Bo Shue, and Janie Todd. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Carson and Gladys Mendell, and his Wife, Minnie (Allen) Mendell.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Willie Mendell Rodeo Scholarship Fund, 2290 E 380 Rd Talala, OK 74080.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 11, 2007, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, June 12, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Collinsville Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Zion Hill Church, 11501 S 4060 Rd, Oologah. Interment following the service at Wann Cemetery.
