William Elmer Butcher

William Elmer Butcher, 87, born February 17, 1937, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at his home in Quitman, TX, surrounded by his loving family.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother Elmer and Ada Butcher; his brothers Albert and Charles Butcher; sisters, Leona Snow, Naomi Swan, and Norma Lee Tinsley; as well as his daughter Beth Ann Butcher, and grandsons Darrell Lee Morris Jr., William Dan Morris and Cooter James Williams.  He is survived in life by his wife Cinda Butcher of the home; his daughters, Beth's 4 kids, and her 5 grandkids, Cindy Patton, her 6 kids, her 23 grandkids, and 3 great grandkids, Barbara Butcher, her 2 sons and her 4 grandkids, Melinda Williams, her 4 kids, and her numerous grandkids, as well as Ann Lowry, her son and his 4 kids.

He was a retired cattleman and rancher.  He had a lifelong passion for the “cowboy” way. He was a good roper and steer wrestler.  He loved to ride, round-up and raise cattle.

In his spare time, he enjoyed coon and elk hunting with his brothers and friends.  He absolutely loved fishing with his family.  He was a loving kindhearted funny man, always telling the grandkids, “If he could find the time, he’d take us down and sit on us, but I aight got the time.” You could tell he was “head supervisor” or if someone had a cough or was sick, he’d say “come here.  I can give you a shot and make it better.”  He’d also say, “you’re doing a good job.  Is there anything I can say to help?”

Visitation for William will be Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Collinsville Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Ryan Amey officiating.  Interment will follow at A.J.
