Wendell Ray Beu of Collinsville passed away Saturday, May 23, 2009 in Tulsa, OK. He was 76. Wendell was born January 16, 1933 to Earnest and Stella Mae (Brown) Beu in Delaware, OK. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Wendell married Carol Sue Hunt in Nowata, OK on March 30, 1957. Together they raised four children. He worked as an Engineer and Supervisor for American Airlines until his retirement. Wendell enjoyed serving the community by volunteering his time many organizations, such as the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief, the Oklahoma Baptist Builders, and Truss and Obey. His hobbies included gardening, golf, carpentry, and traveling. He was greatly loved by his family and will be missed by many.
Wendell is survived by his wife Sue Beu of the home; 4 children, Diane Gorby and her husband Kenny of Collinsville; John Beu and his wife Carole of Broken Arrow, Janna Atwell and her husband Dale of Collinsville, Chris Beu and his wife Patti of Owasso; 1 brother, Gene Beu of Centralia; 7 Grandchildren, Jared Gorby, Ryan Humphrey, David Beu, Nathan Beu, Jamie Roeber, Rebecca Beu, and Erin Beu; numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Stella Mae Beu; 4 sisters, Lela May, Mata Hicks, Alma Robinson, and Frances Hicks.
Visitation for Wendell will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Collinsville with Dr. Tim Prock officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville. Under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wendell’s honor to Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief, 3800 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
