Wayne Leon Mcknight

Wayne Leon McKnight was called to his heavenly home June 7, 2023, at the age of 82 years, 5 months, & 1 day, while surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born in a tent in Oakman, Alabama, on January 6, 1941, to Floyd Ellis and Ola Mae (Hogan) McKnight. During Wayne's childhood, they lived in Washington, Oregon, and Arkansas before making their home in Tulsa where his parents owned Mac's Grocery located at 56th & Lewis. When Wayne was 16, he became smitten by a beautiful young lady named Carolyn. He and his brother Bob would frequently visit the root beer stand where she worked.

Wayne married that beautiful young lady, Carolyn Marie Wilson, on January 12, 1962, in Tulsa. Together they raised three wonderful children. They lived in Tulsa then Center, Colorado before settling in Collinsville in 1969, where their children attended school.

Wayne worked most of his life as a pipefitter for Ford Glass Plant in Broken Arrow until retiring in 1991. Wayne enjoyed watching all OU sports, spending time with his family, hanging out with his animals, but more than anything he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wayne was an important role model in all their lives up until the very end. He taught them everything he knew. Most of all he showed them unconditional love. He had a way of making each one of them feel like they were his favorite. It didn't matter to him what he had going on, he always had time for them. He would change diapers, feed them, take them to school, pick them up. They were his everything and he was theirs. He was the family caregiver and would take care of anyone when they needed it. Wayne was liked by everyone and showed everyone kindness in return. Wayne's passing leaves a huge void in the hearts of his entire family.

Wayne is survived by his wife Carolyn, of the home; brother Bob McKnight, of Tecumseh; son Danny and wife Suzanne, of Collinsville; daughter Robin McKnight, of Collinsville; son Rusty and wife Angela, of Lathrop, Missouri; 9 grandchildren Kody, D.J., Jacob, Caleb, Luke and wife Nickolett, Rebekah, Kaitlin and husband JoJo, Seth, and Eli; 4 great-grandchildren Dixie, Scarlett, Barrett, and Owen.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Monday, June 12, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home with the family being present from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle with Pastor Gary Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
