Vickie Luann Montroy

Vickie Luann (Slinkard) Montroy of Talala, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, surrounded by family. She was 70. Vickie was born on November 19, 1954, in Wichita, KS to Billie Gene and Connie Bernice (Baker) Slinkard. She was a lifelong member of the Collinsville area and graduated with the Collinsville High School Class of 1973. After high school, she remained active with the alumni association and booster club. Her artistic abilities were often used to paint the Cardinal mascot for various sporting events. Vickie turned her love for gardening into a career by becoming a florist. She was known to do arrangements for all kinds of family occasions. She also loved to read, knit, crochet and dance. Vickie’s favorite activity though, was spending time with her grandbabies.

Vickie is survived by her husband Johnnie Montroy of the home; 4 children, Constance Luann Werther and husband Sam, Kristy Lea Phillips and husband Russ, Jeramiah Kenneth Recoy and wife Sarah and Richie Mahoney and wife Leslie; 1 brother, Ronald Gene Slinkard and wife Jan; beloved weiner dog Honey; 11 grandchildren, Patrick and wife Shelby, Alexis, Elizabeth and husband Talon, Lane, Dylan and wife Alayna, Kaitlyn, Emily and husband Tyler, Westin, Trey, Ashlyn and Kane; 4 great grandchildren, Brooks, Brody, Zayde, Phillip, and great granddaughter Hannah, who will arrive in December. Vickie was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Connie Slinkard, daughter Alexis Jean Montroy, and son-in-law Anthony Horn.

Visitation for Vickie will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Friday, October 24, 2025, at Baptist Tabernacle in Collinsville with Rev. Rick Brinkley officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
