Uvaughn Mack Youngblood (“Yummy” or “UMY” to his friends), 93. He was born January 24, 1923 in Collinsville, OK and entered his rest February 11, 2016 in Catoosa, OK with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack Noah and Rebecca Addington Youngblood, two sisters, one brother, his first wife, Maxine Griffith Youngblood, and his second wife, Faye Mooney Youngblood, and one grandson, Steven Hill. He leaves his son: James D. Youngblood, wife Kathy, two daughters: Judy Hill, husband Jim of Ft. Gibson, OK and Louise Tounzen of Collinsville, OK. Six grandchildren: Robin Gray, Carol Evans, Anita Tounzen, Chris Tounzen, Amy Youngblood, and Alexa Youngblood. Ten great-grandchildren: Hillary Gray, Christina Michell, Hayden Evans, Haleigh Evans, Hope Evans, Devin Youngblood, Paighton Tounzen, Chloee Tounzen, Jared Hill, and Justin Hill. Also, band member and long-time traveling companion Shirley Cornett.
Uvaughn was called home from the SeaBees during WWII to care for his aging parents. He participated in Kiwanis and helped build and lifeguard for Collinsville’s first swimming pool. He served for many years on the Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department. He worked in the oil fields and then worked at Tulsa International Airport for 43 years maintaining airport equipment and clearing snow/ice/debris from airport runways. He retired to pursue his two favorite hobbies: fishing and bluegrass music. His band, UMY and the Goodtimers traveled extensively about the Midwest playing festivals, fairs, and bluegrass shows including The John Chick Show, Six Flags, and Silver Dollar City.
He lived in his house in Collinsville for 70 years and will be missed by his family and friends.
The family thanks Dr. Galles, Dr. Des Prez, their staffs, and Season’s Hospice for their care and many kindnesses. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Avant, OK. The Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks, OK., the Oklahoma Fish & Wildlife Department’s Lake Patrol, or the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Avant Baptist Church with Pastor Raymond Henson officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, OK.
Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
