Stanley Paul Peugh

Stanley Paul Peugh, age 68, lived in Owasso, OK, with his wife, Erlinda. He died from complications due to cancer of the pancreas, liver, and colon on May 1, 2021.

Stan was born on July 30, 1952 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma at Memorial Hospital. His early childhood and teen years and schooling were spent in Bartlesville. He was an outdoorsman from early on. He loved to fish, ride his motorcycle, and metal detect every chance he could get. He discovered many Civil War artifacts while living in Texas City, Texas, and donated a large portion of these items to the local museum while there.

Stan loved to joke and make people laugh. He was a figure that commanded the room whenever he entered. He was the kind of person that would be first to lend a helping hand, asking nothing in return.

Stan was never a man who could be content to simply to do nothing with his hands. “Work was the value of a man.” He started working at the age of 12 for T.J. Tannehill (a building constructor) mowing lawns, then he worked for Bill Humble at his Sinclair Filling Station at 13; at 15 ½ he worked at Burger Chef ; then at age 16 ½ he went to work at Bluestem Foundry in Dewey. It was hot and dirty, long hours and many times coming home with burns on his arms and clothing from the sparks from the furnace, but he loved it. And then at 18 he joined the United States Army.
Stan joined the Army in the middle of the Viet Nam conflict in 1970; he completed his basic training at Ft. Lenard Wood, Missouri. He did exceptionally well with his AIT training and graduated as Landing Craft Operator in Virginia. He was immediately assigned to Germany. He was there only a couple of months when he volunteered for Viet Nam. He served for 10 months in Viet Nam, then finished his enlistment at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma where he re-enlisted and spent his final 1 ½ years in Germany in 1975. Once he returned home, Stan went to several trade schools (9 in total) to gain skills that landed him a job with Amoco Oil in Galveston, Texas. He worked for them just over 20 years when due to a neck injury he was forced to retire. He and his wife ErLinda lived in Colorado for a year but came to Owasso in May 2004 to establish a home here.

Stan is survived by his wife ErLinda; his sons: Michael Peugh of Owasso & wife Robyn, Jason Peugh & wife Jovelyn of Oolagah, four grandchildren; his sister, Regina Portman of Owasso, and his brother, Kevin Peugh of Bartlesville. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Fred L. and Fern Peugh.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021, at 11:00 at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home Chapel, Collinsville, OK. Friends and family are invited to share a meal following the service in the home of Erlinda. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Stan’s name to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
