Shirley Morgan Webb was born June 13, 1935, to Henry A. & Marjorie (Gilbert) Morgan, Sr., in Skiatook, Oklahoma. She died December 7, 2010, at her home in Collinsville, Oklahoma.
Shirley attended school in Skiatook & Vera; she traveled with her parents as they pipelined across the country. It was on one of those pipelining jobs that she met William J. (Bill) Webb, the love of her life and best friend. They married October 27, 1951. Shirley had four children, Brad (Cindy), Gy (Pam), Greg and Juli (Stephani Fisher); five grandchildren, Alex (Erin) Webb, Ashley (Ryan) Powell, Nicole Webb, Nathan (Alison) Webb and Tyler Webb and seven great-grandchildren, Hank & Mack Powell, Michael & Jacob Mapp, Tucker & Daisy Webb and Abigail Hood. She also has one brother Henry (Bud) Morgan, Jr, two sister-in-laws: Jane (Glenn) Kauffman, Shirley (Milton) Altmark, one brother-in-law, Valjean (Clarie) Webb, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews within the Webb, Morgan and Gilbert families.
Shirley lived life full of activity and fun. She & Bill lived in Tulsa when the children were elementary aged, where they owned Webb TV & Appliance. They later moved to Collinsville where she was an active co-owner and operator of Webbcraft Boats for 27 years. Shirley also owned and operated Grand Lake Boats Sales on Duck Creek at Grand Lake.
Shirley’s most prized possessions were her family. She was involved in all of her children’s activities, taking her boys to “paper” houses and attending all of the children’s sporting events. There was nothing she loved more than to have a house full of all of her children and grandchildren.
Shirley had a competitive spirit—she was a member of “Hags & Bags” bowling team, played golf and would sit for hours watching her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She loved sharing this spirit with her grandchildren as she included them in Friday night bingo at the Cherokee Yacht Club, and cheering on football team. She loved Collinsville football & basketball, OU football--having season tickets and traveling to bowl games for many years. One of her greatest joys was taking her parents and brother to a Super Bowl game in San Francisco. She learned to love OSU football as Greg & Juli attended college there, and remained a fan.
Shirley became an avid fisherman while living on Grand Lake, and could catch, filet and fry fish in a heartbeat.
Shirley also had a wealth of friends. She loved playing cards, traveling, going out to dinner and hosting parties for all of her friends. Her 4th of July parties on Grand Lake became legendary.
Shirley’s greatest trial in life came when she lost her son Greg. She overcame that by becoming even more possessive of her remaining family, and becoming more of a caretaker for his daughter, Nicole.
Shirley will be greatly missed by each and every one of her family members and friends, but she leaves a legacy of love that she taught each one. Her great smile will never fade from our hearts.
