Shelley Gene Ward, of Ramona, was 63 when she departed this Earth on Wednesday, April 23. She left her family’s farm, her favorite place on this Earth, for the one and only better place - Heaven. Shelley’s sweetheart smile and cowgirl spirit will forever live on in love through her family and friends.
Shelley was born to Jim Richard & Carol Dean (Elder) Brown on January 8, 1962, in Seminole, TX. As a rural kid, she loved being active in her local 4-H chapter. She loved having animals around and enjoyed square dancing. Her time was spent playing softball, at family fish fries, making homemade ice cream, fighting with her little sisters, & playing with her favorite cousins. Summers were spent in the water and some good music was usually involved. Shelley was an amazing dancer, and you would be lucky to join her out on the dance floor.
Shelley was a fan of western swing and loved watching her westerns. She threw some of the best get-togethers, having shrimp boils and parties with family & friends. Shelley followed in a long line of women who seemed to have the ability to feed an army out of nothing and was an excellent cook. She learned how to paint ceramics with great detail and even picked up some classes on auto body repair and horticulture. But of all these accomplishments, her greatest were her children.
Shelley is survived by her Mama, Carol Dean, two sisters Carol Denise & Jimmie Renee, her three children Brandy (sp. Paul), Martin (sp. Trista), & Katelynn (sp. Clayton), and eleven beautiful grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charles (Pete) & Maxine (Macie) Brown, her maternal grandparents Coleman & Wilma Elder, her Daddy Jim Brown, and her precious grandson Caysen Cole Bradley.
