Ruth Ellen Catlett

Catlett – Ruth Ellen was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on March 13, 1928 to Columbus Bryson and Mary Collins Newberry. Ruth went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 after an extended illness. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Catlett, her father and mother, half-sister Maxine Dunham, a brother Robert Wayne, and a grandson, Frank Bourbonnais III. Fred was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on November 29, 1926 and died on June 25, 2003. Fred and Ruth both attended Okmulgee High School. Fred served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. Fred and Ruth were married on June 3, 1948. Ruth worked for the telephone company in Okmulgee then transferred to Wichita, KS after she and Fred were married. Fred worked as a carpenter in Wichita. In 1950, Fred and Ruth moved to Tulsa and from there to Okmulgee where Fred worked for the Okmulgee Fire Department while achieving a drafting certificate from Okmulgee Technical College. Soon after they moved to Tulsa, where Fred spent approximately 40 years working in the heat exchanger business including 13 years at Western Supply where he headed up the Engineering, Drafting and Quality Assurance departments. Ruth was homemaker for the majority of their married life. Ruth’s greatest love was working for God and she spent much time in writing bible lessons for children. Fred and Ruth both left a testimony behind of Christian life and have now both finished their course and kept the faith.

Ruth is survived by 2 sons, Bruce Catlett and wife Georgiann of Va.; Phillip Catlett and wife Susan of Collinsville, OK; 3 daughters, Mary Yvonne Bourbonnais and husband Frank of Collinsville; Ruth Ann Catlett of Collinsville; Jamie Catlett of Tulsa; 4 brothers Bill Newberry and wife Helen, Dal Newberry and wife Carolyn, Lummy Newberry and wife Carol, Carl Newberry and wife Cathy, a half-sister Addie Jeffries; 2 sisters, Dolly Fuller and husband Archie, and Jaquita Martin.
