Ruby Velma Martin

Services for Ruby Velma Martin will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Fellowship Community Church, located at 2018 West Plum in Collinsville. Pastor Leon Hargrove will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. Interment will be held at the Ridge Lawn Cemetery in Collinsville.
Ruby passed away on Sunday July 26, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 7, 1920 in Fay, Oklahoma, daughter of Alfred Ross Marsh and Opal Evelyn (Foster) Marsh. She was 89 years old.
Ruby married Robert Ernest Martin on September 26, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They were married 50 years. Ruby was a homemaker. She loved time spent with her family and enjoyed a lifetime of working crossword puzzles, reading, singing, reciting poetry, quilting, knitting, cooking and working in her flower garden. She was a member of the first Church of God in Shawnee, OK.
She is survived by her children Robert Ross Martin and wife Sue of Owasso, Ralph LeRoy Martin and wife Joyce of Collinsville, Terry Darlene Roberts of Oklahoma City, and Jerry Dean Martin and wife Susie of Oologah; fourteen grandchildren, Steven LeRoy Martin and wife Carol, Robert Dean Martin and wife Danette, Connie Sue Holleyman and husband Larry, Renee Darlene Pilgrim and husband Danny, Alan Lee Martin and wife Cindy, David Dale Roberts, Kevin Dale Martin and wife Darla, Timothy Dean Roberts and wife Mary, Tammie Dee Geim and husband Joey, Andrew Lyle Martin, Scotty Ross Martin and wife Nicole, Paul Damon Roberts, Wesley Glen Martin and wife Crystal, and Harold Allen Massey and wife Amie, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Also one sister, Nancy Crow and husband E.J. of Marlow, two brothers, Curtis Marsh of California, Larry Marsh and wife Rose of Tuttle, and one sister-in-law, Jane Erb and husband Philip of Springfield, MO.
She is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Opal Marsh, step-mother Sarah Magdalene Marsh, husband Robert Ernest Martin, siblings Arthur Marsh of Shawnee, Alora Nay of Marlow, Doris Marsh of Seminole, Virgil Marsh of Jasper, GA, Norma Hunt of Shawnee, Alfred Marsh Jr. of Marlow, father-in-law Robert L. Martin of Denver, CO, mother–in-law Helen Muriel (Routt) Martin-Leascher and husband Cecil of Springfield, MO, brother-in-law Benjamin Leascher of New York, NY, daughter-in-law Doris Martin of Collinsville, two grandchildren, Sandra Dawn Roberts of Shawnee and Jerry Lynn Martin of Tulsa, and one great-grandson, Aaron Blake Holleyman of Owasso.
Ruby was a very special lady who touched countless lives, and lived long enough to see all her children retire. She was a little lady with a big heart, loved by so many and known by all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends as “Mama Ruby”. We will miss her.
