Rosie Lee Tail cox born august 18 1936 in Leach Oklahoma to Ezekiel tail and Ada Rabbit Tail. Rosie passed away Saturday morning March 23, 2024, at her home on the Rez. Rosie grew up in leach where she attended Cherokee boarding school. Until she met her husband Carl Alfred Cox. They were married July 27, 1964, in Tahlequah ok. They moved around a bit before settling in Collinsville where they stayed and raised their family. Rosie Lee was one of the first female welders in Oklahoma and one of the few remaining Cherokee speakers and teachers of the Cherokee language. Rosie was known as a kind, loving and giving person. Her family will also remember her for being stubborn and determined, nosey and strong willed. She loved her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She never missed an event that included her family. Her smile and presence will be missed dearly. Her memory will be treasured by all that knew and loved her. There were no limits or distances that were too far for her and her copilot to travel to for the ones she loved. She was a very faithful servant of God and a member of All Tribes Church in Tulsa.
Rosie is survived by 3 children Russel Cox of Collinsville, Shelly Beck of Ramona, and James Cox of Michigan. Along with many grandchildren Ezekiel Cox, William Cox, Melissa Herzog, Amber Cooper, Jimmy Beck, and Christina and Harley Cox. Rosie also had many great grandchildren Dreama Johnson, Ocean Cox, Gabriel Cox, Keandre Cox, Carson Cooper, Melanie Giange, Michael Graziano, Braden Taylor, Landon Taylor, James Taylor, Gabriel Clay, Ian Herzog, Giovanna Giang, Danielle Giang, Kelsey Singleton, Madison Cox, Christian Cox, Mary Cox, Summer Owens, Katie Hall, Aiden and Kyler. Rosie was preceded in death by her loving husband Carl Cox and two sons Brian Cox (Skeeter) and Raymond Cox (Skipper).
Visitation: 12pm-8pm, Monday, April 1, 2024, at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
Funeral Service, 1pm, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Collinsville with Dr. Tim Prock officiating. Interment will follow at Sandridge Cemetery, Rogers County.
