Ronald “Bill” Weygandt was born October 2, 1936 in Collinsville, OK to Henry F. and Grace (Palmer) Weygandt. He died at his home in Collinsville on March 26, 2016 at the age of 79.
When Bill was 9 years old the family moved to California, then back to Collinsville, and then to Coffeyville, KS when Bill was a freshman in high school. He participated in many sports and was an expert diver on the swim team. He graduated in 1953 and in 1957 married Rosalind “Sam” (Riggs) in Collinsville First Assembly of God Church.
He worked as a pipe insulator for 34 years before retiring. At that time he and Sam purchased a small farm in Nowata, OK on the Verdigris River, just for recreational purposes (and a lot of hard work renovating the farm house and surrounding acreage.)
The family and all the grandkids enjoyed many cook-outs, Easters and Thanksgivings at the “Farm.” Bill rescued a white lab, Misty Mae, which lived at the Farm. She became his beloved companion.
Bill died at home, surrounded by most of his family who were here for Easter weekend. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Marci Garrett, his mother and father, 1 brother Arthur Weygandt, 2 sisters, Louise Jordan and Ruth Rowe.
He is survived by his wife Sam Weygandt of the home; 2 daughters, Kelli Cartwright Anderson and husband Ron, and Brenda Chambers and husband Richard; 1 sister, Maxine Rhoads; 1 brother, Henry Weygandt, Jr; 8 grandchildren, and one step-grandchild, Tony Garrett, Andrew Garrett, Alex Garrett and Melissa (Garrett) Howerton, Kelsey Cartwright Horton, Brooke Kelly, Casey Chambers, Rachel Chambers, and Ronnie Joe Anderson; also, Bill’s very, pride and joy, 7 great grandchildren and 1 step-great grandchild, ALL GIRLS.
