Robert Jackson Coppedge (Bob), 82, passed away on August 12,2020. Bob was born February 11,1938 in Leach, Oklahoma at the family home. He was born to parents Roy Q & Chloe E Hendrickson-Coppedge. He was 1 of 5 children. From a very early age he had a great work ethic which varied from mowing yards, bagging groceries, and delivering gas with his Dad all in an effort to help out the family. He even would help babysit his younger siblings and would bake them chocolate cakes, he never turned down a piece of chocolate cake.

The family later moved to Collinsville where he attended high school and was known for setting records on the football field, he was very talented and achieved All Conference in 1954, 1955, & 1956. During his time at Collinsville High School he met the love of his life, his Barbie Doll, Barbara Louise Calvert. Bob graduated with the Class of 1956. He and Barbara married on April 7, 1957. They made their home in Collinsville and had 4 children, Robert Allen, David Lee, Cindy Lou, & Lisa Gay.

Bob was quite a mechanic and had several classic cars over the years as well as building his children Go Karts and Dune Buggies. Bob & Barbara owned & operated several businesses throughout their lives together which included a DX Bulk plant, 2 different DX gas stations, but he was best known for his skills with a backhoe while operating Coppedge Septic Tanks for over 50 years. He also competed in multiple operator competitions with his backhoe. Bob was a very generous and giving man who never met a stranger. He was also known for doing the work and if you were unable to pay then he didn’t worry about it. One of Bob’s proudest accomplishments was serving his community as a Collinsville School Board Member.
