A celebration of LIFE will be held for Robert Wayne Gibson, on Tuesday, September 26 th , 2017, at 10:00AM, Rabbs Creek Baptist Church, Talala, Oklahoma. Robert was born on September 30, 1955 in Coffeyville, KS to Troyce Wayne and Nancy Jane (Taylor) Gibson. His early childhood was spent in Plainview, TX. The family moved to Miami, OK and later moved to Wichita, KS. While living in Miami, OK, Robert discovered his love of fishing and camping with his older brother, Douglas. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman until health issues prevented him.

After moving to Wichita, Robert met the love of his life, his soul mate, Twila Watts. Their first date was at Taco Tico. They were married on September 15, 1973 and just celebrated their 44 th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with two daughters, Karri Ann and Robin Jane who were the apple of their Daddy’s eye.

The Gibson family has made their home in Oologah since 1982. Robert was a sheet metal mechanic by trade working at ASEA BROWN BOVERI and forged a life-long friendship with owner, Jim Clark. Since 1997 when health issues forced Robert to retire, he could be found working as a handyman, mechanic, or using his wrecker to help anyone in need.

When grandchildren arrived, Robert spoiled them from day one. Robert loved it when Jacob was big enough to play chess.

Robert’s faith was top priority in his life with his family second. He was a member of Rabbs Creek Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Song Leader and Sunday School Teacher.

Robert is survived by his wife Twila and daughter Robin of the home. Daughter Karri and husband Michael Jump of Oologah. Brother Douglas and wife Marilynn Gibson of Chelsea. Brother-in-law Donnie Watts of Wichita, KS. Three grandchildren, Christian, Alayna and Jacob Jump all of Oologah.
