Rita Jean Wheat

Rita Jean Wheat of Oologah, OK passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, in Claremore at 90 years of age.  Rita was born on May 6, 1931, in Murray, Nebraska to LeRay and Beulah (Kline) Webber. She married Doyle Wheat on October 2, 1952, and they were married for 54 years until his death in 2007.  Rita spent her life taking care of the home and family, especially her husband and son Mark.  She had lived in Oologah for the last 15 years having moved from Tulsa.  She was a devoted member of the Oologah Assembly of God. Rita enjoyed going on various outings with the church.  While in the nursing home, Rita enjoyed playing bingo, dominoes, and solving crossword puzzles.  Rita will be missed by many.

Rita is survived by her children, Cindy Mendenhall and husband Fred, and Mark Wheat; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons David, Mike and Richard Wheat; 3 sisters and two brothers.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Oologah Assembly of God, with Pastor Kent Jensen officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville.
