Richard Hobson Williams

January 8, 1925 — August 7, 2007

Richard Hobson Williams a former resident of Arkansas City, KS and a recent resident of Collinsville, OK, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2007 in Owasso. He was 82. Richard was born on January 8, 1925 to his parents, R.H. and Thelma (Mays) Williams in Raleigh, West Virginia. He served in both the Army and the Navy, and was a veteran of World War II. He married Mary Lou Williams and together they raised two children, Mark and Shawnee.

Before retirement, Richard worked as a mechanic for the City of Arkansas City. He also belonged to the Arkansas City VFW. He enjoyed listening to country music, riding his bicycle, gardening, and watching Atlanta Braves baseball. He could usually be seen with his beloved dog Jodie by his side. One of Richard’s great passions was watching game shows such as the Price is Right, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. He will be missed by many friends and loved ones.

Richard is survived by his two children, Shawnee Finnern and husband Gene of Springfield, MO and Mark Williams and wife Tammy of Collinsville, OK; 10 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Cousin, Jenny McManama. He was preceded in death by his Parents, R.H. and Wilma Williams; his wife, Mary Lou Williams; 2 Sisters, Betty Lou Kerner and Norma Ruth Stultz; and 1 Great Grandchild.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 10, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Collinsville Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Collinsville Funeral Home Chapel. Under the Direction of Collinsville Funeral Home, (918) 371-2111.
