Richard Merit Dirickson passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the age of 72 at his home in Tulsa, OK. Richard was born on March 30, 1949 in Oologah, OK to Clabe and Gussie Lorene Dirickson. Richard was an entrepreneur and a man of many talents, owning Dirickson Oil & Gas and Dirickson Dental Laboratory. In addition to being a successful business man, his musical group was signed to an exclusive recording agreement with Monument Records in the 1960s. Richard was a professional songwriter, penning the theme song for independent film, “Oklahoma Bound,” and he continued as a studio musician at several studios in the mid-west. Richard will be missed by many.
Richard and his wife, Marilyn, celebrated their golden anniversary in June of 2020, and he is survived by his wife Marilyn and his children, Raquel Renee Dirickson and Richard Landon Dirickson; his siblings, Norma Clanton, Jerry Dirickson, David Dirickson, Sharon Dunn, Sheila McMillen, and Danny Dirickson; 2 granddaughters, Priscilla Anne Dirickson and Alyssia Marie Dirickson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dennis Dirickson.
