Obituary

Reta Fern McDonald, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and cherished member of her community, passed on March 26, 2026, in Tulsa. She was married to Ted McDonald until his passing in 1998 and together they shared a life filled with love and dedication. Reta raised her children and grandchildren with unwavering care and was always there for them throughout her 66 years of motherhood and grandmotherhood.

Reta devoted many years of her professional life working at Lakeside State Bank for over 15 years and was a committed member of the Oologah community, having lived there for 53 years.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan McDonald Spooner; her grandsons Robert and Corye McDonald of Owasso; and Colin Spooner and Katherine Bush of Amarillo. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Penelope Miller and DJ Stover of Owasso, as well as nieces Mona Pendergraph, Sharon and Gary James of Pampa, Texas, and nephews Michael Shaw and his wife Pam of Pampa, Texas, and Danny McDonald. Reta’s life was further enriched by many devoted friends who mourn her loss.

Reta was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ted McDonald, her grandson Sean Spooner, her son Ronny McDonald, her parents Simon Peter and Amanda King, her sister Wilma Shaw, brother Tommy King, and nephew Ricky King.

A dear friend, Sarah Loyd, will preside over the service. In honor of Reta’s memory and kindness, the family requests that any charitable donations be made to the Porta Caeli House or Compassion Hospice, where she received care.

Reta’s life was a testament to the love and strength she embodied, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Oologah Senior Citizens Center.
