Peggy Jean Newton

Peggy Jean Newton, 81, of Talala, OK passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Tulsa, OK.

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 at the Assembly of God Church in Oologah, OK with Rev. Kent Jensen officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Oologah.

Mrs. Newton was born March 30, 1934 in Oologah, OK to William Jefferson Lambert and the former Minnie Lula Worden. She was raised and educated having graduated from Oologah High School. She had lived in the Oologah-Talala area since 1975. She married Bobby Richard Johnson from May 26, 1952 until his death on February 7, 1967, they had four children. She married Robert Allen Newton on July 26, 1968.

Robert and Peggy owned Newton Turbine Cleaning and Inspection Services where she kept the books and ran the office. She then kept books for the Newton Ranch until her death. She loved sewing, gardening, canning and cooking, having been known for her chicken and noodles and her pies. She loved gambling at the casino with her lucky rock. She was a great listener and would keep numerous grandkids for a week at a time always having lots of adventures for them at the Ranch.

Survived by her husband: Bob of the home, 5 children: Randy Johnson of Tulsa, Robert Johnson of Claremore, Robbin Newton of Talala, Rusty Johnson and his wife Diana of Claremore and Dave Newton and his wife Ruth of Talala, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 brother: Gary Lambert and his wife Joyce of Oologah. 2 sisters: Betty Joyce Cooper and her husband Gary of Muldrow, OK and Shirley Franklin of Claremore.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter: Lita Pruett, 1 brother: Jim Lambert and 1 sister JoAnn.

Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
