Norman Charles Mckinney

March 25, 1935 — January 8, 2014

Norman was born in Talala, Oklahoma on March 25, 1935 to the parents of Charles and Hazel McKinney. Norman was one of three children born to this union. Both parents and his sister Ruth preceded him in death.
Norman accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very early age and has remained active in the Catholic Church and as a devout Christian since.
Norman is survived by his sister, Betty Ann Hirsch, his three children, Russell, Douglas and Maureen; and his devoted friend, Sammuel Donelson.

Norman attended Oologah School and Collinsville High School; he graduated at the age of sixteen. Following high school graduation, he attended Drawns Business School. After completing his studies and obtaining a degree from Drawns he moved to Washington, DC and worked for a US Congressman. Norman later returned to Oklahoma and worked for Douglas Aircraft. Norm was married to Faye Hall and three children were born from this union. He joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Alexandria, LA. He achieved ranking as Airman Second Class. Following his military service, Norman attended and graduated from University of Tulsa. Upon completion, he joined Peat, Marwick, Mitchell (Accounting Firm) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. By profession, Norman was a Certified Public Accountant and primarily practiced his trade in the Oil & Gas exploration and development industry. He retired from this industry in the late 90’s.

Norman leaves an amazing legacy that will be lived and relived by the many lives he impacted. Norman was a devoted father to his three children; Russell, Doug and Maureen and a doting and active grandfather to his nine grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Norman touched a lot of lives as a servant. He was a hospice volunteer with the Missionaries of Charity in Denver, Colorado for several years. He was the co-founder of United Children’s Fund (UCF) a non-profit organization that builds primary and secondary schools in the poorest of the poor areas of Eastern Uganda. UCF provides education to children and housing to the educators in the villages of remote Uganda. Through his world travels and his commitment to Uganda, Norman was a missionary, introducing Jesus Christ the Savior to those unfamiliar with God’s mercy and grace. He has touched so many lives; lives have been enhanced because Norman lived and was obedient to his calling to reach out and love people.

Norman will be remembered for his compassion to the less fortunate. His dedication to service, his sensitivity to injustices, his personable nature, his love of life, travel, adventure and his commitment to family and friends.
Norman leaves to mourn his passing son Russell McKinney (wife Connie) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, son, Douglas McKinney of Talala, Oklahoma, daughter, Maureen Roderick (husband Ron) of Evergreen, Colorado. Grandsons: Brian McKinney, Steven McKinney, Ronnie Roderick, Michael McKinney and Ryan Roderick. Granddaughters: Kimberly McKinney, Katharine Glaub, Molly Nydegger and Emily Roderick. Four great grandchildren: Charlotte, Bridgette, Alexander and Tiberius.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain. Revelations 21:4
