Maxwell Leonard Moore, Jr.

November 27, 1946 — December 10, 2022

We are saddened by the passing of Max Moore, on December 10th, 2022 at the age of 76 in his home in Jenks, OK. He will be sorely missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.

Visitation will be Noon to 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, December 16, 2022 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville.

Max was born November 27th 1946 in Joplin, MO. He was raised by his maternal grandparents in Wyandotte, OK. He met his wife of 54 years, Cheryl Doescher, while attending Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. After graduation, he served as Chaplain’s Assistant in the U.S. Air Force, with the rank of Staff Sergeant. After serving in Korea, he attended University of Oklahoma, Norman where he received a Masters of Library Science degree. His first child, Kari, was born while he was studying in Norman. After graduating OU, he accepted a position in the Library at Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, eventually achieving and retiring from the University Library as Head of Computer Services. While at ORU, his second child, Kelly, was born. After retirement, he lived to see his eldest married to Alan, and was delighted to become a grandfather to Connor. He was a kind, gentle man who enjoyed the holidays, spending time with the family cats, his grandson, and researching his family history.

Max Moore is survived by his wife Cheryl Moore, Jenks, OK, his children Kari and Alan Bigelow of Tulsa, OK, Kelly Moore and Kyle Machulis of El Cerrito, CA, his grandchild Connor Bigelow of Tulsa, OK, and his brother Ron and Joyce Moore of Carthage, MO. He is predeceased by a brother, Robert Moore of Sulphur Springs, TX.

Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
