Mary Jane (Vanderpool) Welch

Mary Jane Welch of Talala, OK died Saturday January 19, 2008. She was 82. Mary Jane was the wife of Butler M. Welch. Born of Ira Johnson Bradley and Rita Marie Bradley on September 26, 1925 in Owasso, OK. Mary Jane graduated from Oologah High School in 1943. Mary Jane married Glen Mayo Vanderpool on January 6, 1946. They made their home on the family farm in Oologah. There they raised three children, Betty Marie, Geoma Elaine, and Jim Claude. They remained married until Mayo’s death in 1991. Mary Jane met Butler in February 2002. They married in July 2002. They lived in various places, before making their home in Talala. Mary Jane leaves behind husband Butler and faithful companion “Woody” of the home. Mary Jane is survived by: Daughter Betty Johnston and her husband Bill of Talala. Daughter Geoma Pennington and husband Phil of Oologah, and son Jim Vanderpool and wife Shirley of Oologah. Mary Jane had nine grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren of whom she was especially proud. Husband Mayo, her parents, and siblings preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Oologah United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Wann Cemetery. Under the direction of Oologah Dolton Funeral Home.
