Mary Katherine Ruminer

May 15, 1923 — February 23, 2015

Mary Katherine Ruminer passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Monday, February 23, 2015. She had been cared for by family, Leisure Village and Roserock Hospice since March 2008.

Mary was born May 15, 1923 in Marble City, Oklahoma to William Thomas Doughtery and Tishie Arizona Jackson. She had four sisters and two brothers who have all preceded her in death.

On July 25th, she married J.D. Ruminer. She worked various jobs and was a stay-at-home mother to four children, Julia, Wayne, Jack and Sue. Mary experienced grief as a young mother when she buried her son, Jack, after a battle with Leukemia at the age of 21. She also saw the death of her other son, Wayne, after complications from health issues. The family is very thankful she was not aware of the death of her baby girl, Sue, in February 2009.

Mary lived on 9th Street in Collinsville, Oklahoma since 1966. She had her daughter, Sue, living right next door. Mary attended church faithfully at United Pentecostal Church in Collinsville. On most days, you could find her busy around her home or sitting in her favorite spot surrounded by books and crochet supplies. One of those books was her bible!

She was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles and loved to crochet blankets. When her sisters would visit or she visited them, you would hear lots of laughter and many trips to used book stores.

As a grandmother to Barbara, Terri, Lisa, Dee, Shawn, Cindee and Lacey, she made her home the perfect place to hang out. She spoiled her great grand children by always taking time to play games, eat candy and share lots of kisses and hugs. It was the place where anything goes – everything you could not do at home was acceptable at Grandma’s!

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D.; sons, Jack and Wayne, and daughter, Sue.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Julia and her husband, Bob, of Coppell, Texas; granddaughter, Barbara Bethel and her husband, James, of Collinsville, Ok; granddaughter, Terri Boren and her husband, Ron, of Skiatook, Ok; granddaughters Lisa Sawyers and Dee Gougler of Coppell, Texas; daughter-in-law Lora Rodlun of Arkansas, grandson, Shawn Ruminer of Arkansas; granddaughters Lacey Ruminer and Cindee Ruminer of Arkansas; great grandchildren Justin, Heath, Chancey, Trey, Kayla, Kimberly, Cassady and precious great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the 1st Pentecostal Church in Collinsville with Pastor Don Martin and James Bethel Officiating. Interment will follow at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
