Mary Ann (Wallace) Kahoa passed from this earth and went home to be with our Lord, Sunday, September 15, 2019. The celebration of her life will be held Friday, September 20, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at the Collinsville Church of Christ, 1010 West Broadway, Collinsville, OK 74021.
Mary Ann (Wallace) Kahoa met the love of her life, Jr. Kahoa in first grade. Of course, the romance didn’t begin until many years later when they were in high school, but they were best friends and soulmates. They were married on July 3, 1955 following high school graduation. Mary Ann adored Jr. and their love successfully endured the ups and downs of marriage for sixty-four wondrous years. A committed love to each other was extremely important to both of them and they were a living testimony to their family and friends on how to make it work in good or bad times. Mary Ann demonstrated how to selflessly love and serve her husband.
It was not unusual to hear family and friends describe Mary Ann as a sweet, kind, loving soul with the most beautiful, welcoming and friendly smile. She had a way of making everyone feel comfortable, important, and worth her attention. Mary Ann was a quiet spirit with a generous, tender heart. She demonstrated compassion and the love of Jesus to all. She was often doing something for others to assist or lift them up. Her faith, prayer and daily Bible study were a habitual practice. Some of her children’s favorite memories are of her sitting in the living room chair reading and studying the scriptures. She was an accomplished children’s Bible class teacher and the joy of the message was evident in the lessons she taught.
Mary Ann led by example. Her quiet, comforting nature was seen by all through a gentle touch, pat on the back, encouraging words or just the way she did things. She invested in your life and her patient, nurturing demeanor allowed her to share in your joys, trials, and sorrows. In the midst of life’s storms, she found comfort in letting God take the wheel and lead her through. She showed her children how to look for the “silver lining” or good in every situation. She was an example of inner peace and contentment in any situation.
She was preceded in death by her father, Julian Wallace and mother, Coy Lee (Sites) Wallace.
She is survived by her husband, Jr. Kahoa; daughter, Paula Ann Reed and husband, Shannon; daughter, Brenda Sue Kinsey and husband, Don; daughter, Anita Fern Potts and husband, Jeff; son, Archie Allen Kahoa and wife, Beverly; sister, Diana Harmon and husband, Terry; brother, Julian Lee Wallace and wife, Kathy; brother, Ancel Joe Wallace and wife, Joy; sister, Vanda Faye Perkins and husband, Jack; sister, Myrna Allene Johnson and husband, Ken; brother, George B.
