Mary Ellen Bernice Owens

Mary Ellen Bernice Owens, 91, of Vera, OK, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009 in Tulsa, OK. She was born August 18, 1917 in Brentwood, Arkansas to John E. Clifton and the former Louise R. McCollough. She later married Ira I. Owens in Claremore on October 19, 1935. She had been a resident of Vera since that time.
She is survived by 3 sons: Leo D. Owens and his wife Ann of Vera. Bill E. Owens of Vera and Paul L. Owens of Vera, 8 Grandchildren: Carla Deann Burkhardt, Jamie Lynn Owens, Carl Dean Owens, Jr., Ronald Kevin Owens, Jana Lynn Owens, Steven Lee Owens, Allison Owens Jacobs and Stacey Marquita Huggins and 11 Great-grandchildren. 1 Brother: Bob Clifton and his wife Pat of Skiatook and 1 sister: Geraldine Bell of Skiatook. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ira Owens and a son, Carl D. Owens. She is also preceded in death by several brothers.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 28, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Christian Church of Vera with Rev. Bill Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
