Marla Sue Dunkel

July 21, 1956 — June 19, 2023

Marla Sue Dunkel, a beloved wife, mother, Mamaw, and devoted caregiver, passed away on June 19, 2023, just one day shy of her 48th wedding anniversary. She was born in Sayre, OK, on July 21, 1956, to her parents Delvenia Louise Lowrance and the late Lewis Ray Lowrance. Marla was the third of four children. Marla is preceded in death by her siblings, Ronnie Lowrance and Lou Ann Webb. Her Mother, Delvenia, brother Garry Lowrance, and his wife, Suzie, survive her.

Marla's life was forever changed when she met the love of her life, Dan Dunkel, in Sand Springs, OK. They were united in marriage and shared 48 beautiful years filled with love, joy, and countless memories.

Marla and Dan moved from Miami, OK, in 1989 to Oologah.  She is survived by her husband, Dan Dunkel, and their three children, Heather Pollock and husband, Aaron Pollock of Owasso, OK; Shawn Dunkel and wife Charlee Dunkel of Jenks, OK; and Jeff Dunkel and wife Jessica Dunkel of De Soto, KS. Marla poured her heart and soul into being a devoted mother, always putting her children's needs before hers. Marla's love and support for her family was truly unwavering. If you knew Marla, you also knew her family because she could not help but brag.

Marla's greatest delight in life was spending time with her grandsons. These ten little lights of her world brought her great joy, Braden, Landon, Kash, Peyton, Collin, Westin, Griffin, Oliver, Calvin, and Charlie. Marla had a never-ending supply of hugs and kisses for each and every one of her boys and had an incredible gift of making everyone she cared about feel loved. She even laid eyes on her new great-grandson, Daniel Barrett, before passing.

During this time of sorrow, let us find solace in the memories we shared with Marla. Her selflessness, kindness, and unwavering love will forever be remembered. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her legacy of love continue to shine bright in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
