Lindel Brice Henry

March 5, 1954 — September 23, 2024

Lindel Brice Henry born March 5, 1954 lived an impactful life. A man of intellect and passion, Lindel taught and coached in the public education system for over 40 years where his impact spanned to several communities and hundreds of students. Early in life Lindel found his love for sports and excelled in every endeavor. Whether it was his success on the football field completing 49 yard field goals or celebrating the times he golfed his age on the course, he found a passion in competition and ensured to instill that in others to help build and challenge themselves to grow in life.

Growing up with four siblings, Lindel became the older brother who others relied on no matter what call came in life. As a servant leader, Lindel spent his last years as the primary caregiver to his loving father and mother. His mother would commonly say “I don’t know what we would do without Lindel”, a sentiment that was commonly shared in the family. Whether it was a construction emergency, golf lesson or just a candid discussion on politics, Lindel was at the center ready to help and support.

His love extended to all his nephews and nieces and greats, he was the uncle who was always there.  And from time to time, he would make sure his nephews and nieces got a fair deal with any umpire or referee. One thing for sure, Uncle Lindel always had their back.

If Lindel wasn’t around the house or at the lake helping out and fishing on the boat, more than likely he was playing a round of golf with his brother Mike and his golfing buddies at Owasso. Lindel’s talents in golf led to a notable four peat back to back state golf championships for Pryor High School before he retired after 17 years at the school. Lindel was exceptional at the sport, barely missing the Senior PGA cut off one year and finding great success in tournament play with his favorite annual trip to Las Vegas with his brother.

With a love for teaching math and science Lindel could work any problem. His great nephew would challenge him from time to time with a random math problem just to keep him on his toes. With his intellect, Lindel was creative and loved to sing and play the guitar. A skill he shared with his father and brother, Lindel always got the tug on the shirt to play just one more.

Lindel was candid and known to speak his mind. A rare trait, Lindel could tell you what he thought one day and never missed a beat the next with showing love and compassion. A person who gave themselves in a way that he could, Lindel left a little part of his legacy with every person he taught, coached, helped and loved.

Lindel entered his final resting place on September 23, 2024 at the age of 70 where he was reunited with his loving mother and father, Bobbie and Sidney Henry. Lindel is survived by all his siblings: Terry Henry, Snookie (spouse); Mike Henry, Denise (spouse); Randy Henry; and Lisa Norton, Lee Wayne (spouse). Multiple nieces and nephews to include: Dustin Henry; Wesley and Kari (spouse) Weaver; Waylon and Tocarra (spouse) Weaver; Samantha Henry; Chris (spouse) and Jessie Harper; Jake and Marti (spouse) Henry; Bobby and April (spouse) Norton; and Shawn (spouse) and Sydne Austin.  Lindel’s legacy and impact extends to multiple great nephews and nieces who he loved and adored and numerous additional family and friends.
