Leroy Garrison

Funeral services for Billy LeRoy Garrison will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at First Baptist Church,105 North Pine, Oologah, Oklahoma. The Revs. Charles Brazeal and David Bilby will officiate. Committal services will be at the Wann Cemetery of Oologah under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home in Collinsville.

LeRoy, the son of Jimmy Edward Garrison, and Grace Ellen Morris Garrison, was born December 12, 1932 in Claremore, Oklahoma, and departed this life on April 23, 2014 in Tulsa.

He was a lifelong resident of Rogers County. He graduated from the Lone Elm Elementary School, and attended Claremore High School. LeRoy was a great lover of the farm life, and was an avid truck driver. He worked for many years for the Danheusen/Heston Corporation. He spent the last 14 years of employment with the Rogers County District No. 2, retiring in 1998.

LeRoy was passionately involved with his church and church family. He loved gospel music and has travelled many miles to many places to attend gospel singings. For many years he served as a deacon with the Freewill Baptist Church. He was recently honored for being a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge #343. When LeRoy got involved in any situation, he gave it his all.

He served on the Lone Elm school board until the school was annexed by the Claremore school system. He was a true master of what it meant to love and be loved. If you knew him, you loved him—if he knew you, he loved you.

On July 2, 1965, LeRoy and Ruby Brazeal were married. This union lasted until Ruby’s passing in August of 2013. They were active members of Zion Hill Freewill Baptist Church and Shelter Freewill Baptist Church until their passing.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Grace Garrison; his wife, Ruby; brother, Johnnie; sister, Emma; step-son, Michael Brazeal; and step-grandson, Steven Troglin.

LeRoy is survived by brothers, Jack (Marilyn) of Enid and Tommie (Vicky ) of Owasso; sister, Mary Nickles of Claremore; three step-daughters, Erma (Walter) Hall of Collinsville; Birlene (Don) Driskill of Kenai, Alaska; Phyllis (John) Lullo of Ketchum, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 8 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great grandchildren, and 2 step-great great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, as well as a host of dear, dear friends.

Family visitation will be at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home in Collinsville on Saturday, 2:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, 1:30 – 6:00 p.m.
