Leonard Lee Actkinson, a true American patriot, loving husband and father, entered his heavenly home in the presence of his loved ones on March 27, 2024 at the age of 75. Leonard was born on April 13th, 1948 in Lubbock, Texas to Linard and Betty (Yarbrough) Actkinson and spent his growing up years in Lubbock and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1966.
After high school, Leonard Lee volunteered and served in the United States Army and was a proud but humble veteran of the Vietnam War. After his military service, Leonard made his way to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he met his future bride Sue Tucker on a blind date. They were married on September 29, 1973 and were blessed to celebrate 50 years of marriage! Leonard and wife Sue welcomed sons Jeff and Matthew Scott and made their home for many years in Vallejo, California.
Prior to moving to California, Leonard also graduated from Tulsa Community College and Texas Tech University. His military, college experiences and faith prepared him for life as provider for his family. As a father, Leonard supported his sons as a Royal Ranger Commander through Church on the Hill in Vallejo, CA and was affiliated with the Assemblies of God Church. He retired from Goodrich Aircraft International as a Quality Control Engineer.
Leonard’s dedication to hard work, afforded him the opportunity to enjoy traveling with wife, Sue where they visited many interesting places. Other passions included American military history, and woodworking. Leonard was also an avid coin collector and was the family genealogist. Leonard’s love for family history was fueled by his Scottish heritage. It was not uncommon to see Leonard Lee show up to gatherings in a kilt with the Gordon Clan plaid! After raising a family in Vallejo, California, Leonard and Sue moved to Collinsville, OK where they lived at the time of his death.
Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Linard and mother, Betty (Yarbrough) Actkinson.
