Leland Lawrence “Lee” Matts, born February 1, 1939 in Drumright, OK to L.F. “Buddy” and Ruth (Bradbury) Matts. He attended Drumright Schools, Draughon School of Business in Tulsa, OK, and received his Bachelor of Science at Jackson College, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Lee married Sue Niccum on December 29, 1961 in Tulsa, OK. They made their home in Honolulu, HI, where Lee was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base as Funds Control Officer for the 1957 Communications Group.
After the Air Force, Lee was employed by Sun Oil Company in Tulsa, OK and Kansas City, MO as territory representative. He later joined B.A. Ballou & Co. as a sales representative traveling 11 states.
Lee enjoyed fishing, hunting and trips to the Texas Gulf Coast.
Lee is survived by his wife Sue of the home; sister Patsy Davis of Sand Springs, OK; brother Dean Matts and wife Donna of Yukon, OK; sisters-in-law Wanda Lassley and husband Glen of Yale, OK and Carolyn Brashears and husband Gene of Dewey, OK; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by his parents L.F. and Ruth Matts, sister Linda Creel and brother Dale Matts.
Visitation for Lee will be Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 6, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Collinsville with Dr. Tim Prock officiating. Graveside Services will follow at Lawson Cemetery in Yale, OK at 2:30 p.m. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home, www.collinsvillefh.com , (918) 371-2111.
