Lela Hart

Lela Hart, born to Charlie and Esther Brown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 in Redding, California.

Lela was born in Carney, OK on August 2, 1920. She later moved to the Stillwater area where she met Clarence, her husband of 70 years. They moved to Hutchinson KS where Lela became a riveter for Cessna Aircraft Inc. as part of the World War II effort while Clarence served in the Philippines. They later moved to Wichita, Kansas in the late 50’s where Clarence went to work for a local television station and then onto San Jose, CA in 1967, where they lived for 20 years before returning to Collinsville, OK. Lela and Clarence, for health reasons, would return one more to live in Redding, CA with their daughter. Lela will return to Stillwater to be laid to rest.

Lela loved camping and fishing and had a great sense of humor. She was an excellent cook, loved to sew, knit, and her favorite hobby was quilting. She made many keepsake pieces for her family over the years. We will cherish them forever.

Lela came for a very large family and has one sister that survives her, Opal Edmondson, living in Stillwater.

Lela is survived by her husband, Clarence who resides with his daughter, Barbara Peterson and her husband Dave, in California, son Charles Hart and his wife Andrea of Oregon, four grandchildren, Julie, Art, Aron and Melissa and 5 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She will forever live in our hearts as a joyful spirit.

Funeral services will 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Southside Baptist Church, 1223 S. Perkins Rd, Stillwater, OK.

Services are under the direction of Collinsville Funeral Home.
