Kenneth Edward Mcsperitt, Jr.

November 14, 1947 — December 29, 2023

Kenneth Edward McSperitt, Jr.

Born Nov 14, 1947 on Beller Mountain, Keota, Oklahoma in his grandparents' log cabin, to Kenneth E. McSperitt, Sr. & Ruby M. (DeWitt). He married Marilyn "Jean" Silcox on  September 14, 1965 in Turley, OK. He served honorably in the Army National Guard, 245th Infantry Division as a Mechanical Engineer. At the time of his discharge, his rank was Sergeant First Class E-7.  He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tulsa University, an M.B.A. from Oklahoma City University and a Masters in Environmental Sciences from the University of Oklahoma. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Company in 2004 after a 35-year career  where began as a research lab technician in 1969 and concluded as an Executive holding various titles, one of which was Senior Environmental Scientist. He was an official Registered Environmental Manager recognized and certified by the National Registry of Environmental Professionals.

Ken enjoyed building. He, along with his wife, Jean, his brother, Edward, and his wife Joyce, built or remodeled 6 houses over the years, many of which he personally designed on graph paper.  When asked what 'hobbies' he had, you could say it was building or fixing, because he could fix anything. Jean said she thinks he was addicted to saw dust because he couldn't go long without building something. He would gladly help anyone who needed help, generously giving his time and talents. He was jack of all trades and master of many. His family was his greatest treasure in life.  When asked, he said his one regret in life was spending too much time earning degrees and working and not enough time having fun.

Ken is survived by his wife, Jean, of 58 years, son, Dr.  Kenn McSperitt, (Carin), daughter, Tammy Ramsey (Toby), 5 granddaughters, Elizabeth Gallaway, Emily Gallaway (Courtney), Dr. Erin Robinson (Dr. Ryan Robinson), Bethany McSperitt, Isobel McSperitt. 3 grandsons, Zachary Gallaway, Ian McSperitt and Tiernan McSperitt, as well as 3 great grandsons, Connor Gallaway, Ronin Robinson and soon to be born Dillion McSperitt Sanches. 5 siblings, Edward (Joyce), Janie Dunlap (Billy), Augsteen (Bonnie), Charles (Debby) and Larry (Nancy), as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased in death by his Father, Kenneth E. McSperitt, Sr. and his mother, Ruby DeWitt McSperitt,  as well as 4 siblings, Barbara McSperitt, Diannia McSperitt, Jerry Don McSperitt, and David McSperitt. Also his father-in-law, Bud Silcox,  mother-in-law, Margie (Doughty) Silcox, a niece, Doneta Hammons, and a great-niece, Laci Scoggins.
