Juanita Ruth Collins-Thorp, 75 years old, left to be with her God on Monday, September 29, 2014 after numerous complications from a massive stroke.
She was born in Manitou, Oklahoma on February 28, 1939 to Lula and Hubert Jewell Lee (aka Tex). She was predeceased in death by her parents, Lula and Hubert Lee, her sister, Peggy Oliver and her brothers, Hubert Jewell Lee Jr. and Conrad Lee. She is survived by her husband, Weldon Thorp, 3 daughters, Terri Howard, Cheri and husband Met Lindle, Tami Collins and life partner Amanda Furry, step-daughter Talaisa and husband Roger Tucker and step niece, Mena Smith. Our mom also was loved by many grandchildren and great children. William Wallace Jr and his family Carolyn, Forrest and Reagan, Chelsea and her husband Adrian Collins and their daughter, Paislee Kate. Brian Lassiter, Denise Castillo and husband Gumaro and their children Elijah and Sophia, Blake and Melanie Lindle and their family, Ben and Tonja Lindle and their family.
Our mom loved volleyball which she played for many years on a competitive power volleyball league with the USVBA. She also enjoyed playing golf for many years which she would play with her best friend, Freddie Cooper. Juanita retired from William’s Company in the early 90s. Another love of our mother’s was her cats. She is survived by 3 of them, Pug, Baby Girl, and Jr.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., October 1, 2014 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
The service will be held at the Owasso Church of Christ 10510 N 129th E Ave Owasso, OK at 10:00 am October 2. Following the church service she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Robert W. Collins at Ridgelawn Cemetery. Following the graveside service there will be lunch served back at the Church of Christ.
Juanita’s children will be hosting a celebration Memorial Service at the Meadowcreek United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. on October 2. 14205 East 146th St N, Collinsville, OK 74021. There will be food after this service as well.
Our family would like to thank the Church of Christ and Meadowcreek United Methodist for their generosity and kindness during this most difficult time in our lives.
