Joyce Ann Smith-Williams of Collinsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the age of 79. Joyce was born on October 6, 1945, in Coffeyville, KS to Charles Smith and the former Annabelle Willhite. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker. Quiet and private by nature, Joyce had the reputation of being quite the salesperson. “She could sell an icebox to an Eskimo” was a phrase often used to describe her ability. Joyce had many other interests, too. She loved fishing, growing flowers, and crafting. She also enjoyed dancing and having her son sing to her. After her health started declining and she was no longer able to drive, she looked forward to going for car rides. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They will miss her dearly.
Joyce is survived by Timothy Tallman of the home; son, Gavin Cornett; daughter Emily Cornett; great grandchildren, Dominik, Elora, Arraya and Iris; and a host of family and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Smith and Annabelle Brown, and her husband, Vernon Steinke.
The family will be holding a private service.
