Joseph Melville Carrione

September 22, 1936 — July 17, 2024

Joseph Melville Carrione was born September 22nd, 1936 in Stilwell, Ok. He was born to Joseph Camilo Carrione and Mary Elizabeth Carrione.

Proud of his Italian and Cherokee heritage. He came from a musical family and was a gifted musician playing guitar and singing all of his life.  His uncanny recollection of days past combined with his wit and story telling ability always made for great conversation.

During the summers in Oologah, he could be seen strolling with daughter Maleta to Beattie’s convenience store for treats.

His parting words to the young men of the family was always , “Keep your powder dry and your hatchet handy.”

His is survived by his daughter Maleta Herrera, twin sister Mary West. Grand Children , Joseph Herrera, Cloudia Herrera, Sierra Herrera, Freyja Sanchez, great grandchildren Tilly and Juniper Glass, Ascension Herrera. Niece Brenda West and nephew Marc West.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Carrione, sister Loretta Francile Campbell.

In leu of flowers, please, consider a donation in memory of Bud Carrione, to Little Lighthouse of Tulsa, a tuition free education facility for children with special needs, Donate - Little Light House Supporting Children with Special Educational Needs

A memorial will be held starting at 10am on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Oologah Community Center at 215 S Mable, Oologah Ok, 74053.
