Jon Earl Day

January 23, 1936 — November 16, 2023

Jon Earl Day of Collinsville, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in Tulsa at the age of 87.  Jon was born on January 23, 1936 in Elkhart, KS to George Edgar and Alice (Taylor) Day.  He married Shirley Jayne and together they raised four daughters.  Jon made his career as a master mechanic and then taught at vo-tech. He made sure everyone’s vehicles were in working order, and not just his family’s cars but also his friend’s cars and church vehicles were often taken care of by Jon.  He was a member of the Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle where he wore many hats in the church.  Over the years he served as a deacon, trustee, on the mission board, sang in the choir. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by many.

Jon is survived by his wife, Shirley Day; daughters Jeanie Phillips and husband Gary, Sheryl Briggs and husband Richard, Debi Day, and Lynn Harris; one brother, Richard Day and wife Shirley; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; as well as a host of extended family and friends.  Jon was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, and son-in-law, Mel Harris.

The family will hold a Memorial Service on Tuesday, the 21st of November 2023, at 11:00AM at The Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle, 13300 E. 136th St. N., Collinsville, OK 74021

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle “Vision” fund / building fund, PO Box 184, Collinsville, OK 74021.
