John William Garbey

John William (Bill) Garbey Jr was born October 10, 1934, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John Garbey Sr and Evelyn Shields. He passed from this life on October 12, 2023, at the age of 89 at his home in Talala, OK.

Memorial Services will be at 10 am, Saturday, October 28th at Harbor Church in Oologah OK.

He grew up in Red Fork and attended Webster High School. He was a true westsider and very proud of it. He married Joyce Hoover on October 23, 1956. They built the house they called home together in Jenks, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 and then became a mechanic at American Airlines for the next 30 years. After his retirement, he and Joyce traveled around to spend time with family and friends. John and Joyce moved to Talala, OK in May of 2022 where he enjoyed sitting on his porch watching the deer come up and eat and his chickens and guineas run around. John loved life, loved fishing and hunting and he loved being with his friends and family.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his son Larry Stanley, his grandson Matthew Stanley, brother Donald and sister Dorothy.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his grandchildren, Dominique and Bruce Sexton of Talala, OK, Nikki Perez of Jenks, OK, PC Perez of Tulsa, OK and Heather and Jason Jones of Rocky Mount, NC, his 10 great-grandchildren, his great-great grandson, his caregiver Jill Poindexter and a host of extended family and friends.
