John D. Ecker, 80 of Collinsville, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in Talala, OK. He was born June 1, 1929 in Vera, Ok to James Arthur Ecker and the former Zella Fian. He had lived of his life in this area. He served as City Commissioner in Collinsville in the mid 1970’s. He was a veteran serving in the Army and member of the American Legion Post 131 in Skiatook.
He is survived by 3 sons: Jerry Lee Evans of Choteau, OK, Jackie Wayne Ecker and his wife Kathy of Broken Arrow, OK, and John D. Ecker, Jr. and his wife Susan of Tulsa, OK. 1 Daughter-n-law: Patty Ecker of Talala, OK. 3 sisters-n-laws: Marie Gillespie, Lou Farley and Alice Hayworth. 1 Brother-n-law: Bill Evans. He is also survived by 8 Grandchildren: Kyle Evans, Desiree Kopnicky, Joel Ecker, Jamie Shockley, Geneva Rawdon, Jackie Dodgin, Amanda Ecker, Billy Deatherage, Karrie Lawson and April Ecker and 14 Great-Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alene, a son, Jimmy Ecker, 3 sisters: Louise, Margie and Virginia and a brother, Cecil.
Visitation will be Noon to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Into All the World Church, 14133 N. 137th East Ave. Collinsville, OK with Rev. Pat Hudson Officiating. Interment will follow at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
