John Lewis “Bud” Smith, 73, of Vera, OK passed away, Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Tulsa, OK. He was born in Vera, OK to Layne Smith and the former Laura Lucille Lapsley on September 18, 1940. He had lived in Vera, OK all his life. He worked at Douglas Aircraft. He loved to work cattle, having been a bull rider in his younger years. He loved hanging out with his 2 nephews, Josh and Derek Breedlove, whom he considered to be his own sons. They called him Dad.
He is survived by his wife, Lea Smith of the home. brother Larry Smith and wife Jeanie of Vera, OK: sister Mary L. Edgar and her husband Ernie of Senora, CA: brother-in-law Ben Fisher and his wife Eva of Collinsville, OK: 2 sister-in-laws, Ruth Almond of Vera, OK and Janet Lewis of Collinsville, OK: Nephews: Josh Breedlove and his wife Lacy of Ramona, OK., Derek Breedlove, of the home, Jones Smith, Daniel Edgar, Michael Fisher of Collinsville, OK., Vince Fisher, of Calumet, OK., David, Darren, and Dale Webb, and Troy Dunn of Ventura, CA: Nieces, Mary Beth, Sara, Molly, Amy, and Leigh Layne, and Lacy Breedlove.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother: son Monty: twin brothers: and sister Patty Layne Webb: brother-in-laws, Corky Almond, Ewel Lewis, and Big Webb: nephews, Ronald Wayne and Johnny Ray Fisher: mother and father-in-law, Maggie and Floyd Breedlove.
Graveside Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Buck Creek Cemetery, Northeast of Vera, OK with Mary L. Egger officiating. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
