James Melvin “Jimmy” Williams of Collinsville, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was 89. Jimmy was born on May 24, 1926 in Collinsville to Chester and Nettie Mae (Detwiler) Williams.
Visitation for Jimmy will be held Monday, May 16, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Baptist Tabernacle in Collinsville with Rev. Charles Modrell and Rev. Gary Cate officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
Jimmy served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of the local VFW. He met and married Anna Mae Whisenhunt and together they raised 2 children. Jimmy worked for American Airlines as a stock clerk in the warehouse until his retirement. He and his wife were founding members of the Baptist Tabernacle in Collinsville. He was a lifelong member of the Collinsville area and will be truly missed.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Anna Mae Williams of the home; his children, Barbara Vincent and husband Vernon of Stillwater, and Jim Williams II and wife Mindy of Perry; his sister, Imogene Flanary; his brother, Kenny Williams; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; 1 sister; and 2 great grandchildren.
