Jimmie Lee "Jim" Kelley

October 20, 1947 — January 19, 2025

Jimmie Lee “Jim” Kelley of Collinsville, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, in Tulsa at the age of 77. Jim was born in Ada, OK on October 20, 1947, to Grace Inez Buster Kelley and William Irving Kelley.

Jim was the 7th of 13 children.  After his father passed away when he was a teenager, Jim got a job which helped his mother provide for his younger siblings.  After graduating high school, Jim attended college. He continued his education and earned his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the age of 25. Jim met Louise Land, and they married while in college. He shared his knowledge as a professor at different universities throughout the years. Jim retired from Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University as a Professor of Medicine.  Jim and his wife Louise moved back to Oklahoma and resided in Collinsville for the last 10 years.

They attended the First Baptist Church where they made many friends and remained active in the Church.  Jim was a kind and knowledgeable man. He had a strong faith in the Lord, which was evident to those who knew him.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations or gifts be made to Gideons International or Samaritan’s Purse.

Jim is survived by his wife, Louise Kelley of the home; 3 sons, Steve Kelley (Gayla), Mike Kelley (Heather), John Kelley (Amanda); 14 grandchildren, Emily (Jordan), Elisha, Erin, Enslee, Zac, Noah, Isaiah, Jenny, Samuel, Jacob, Levi, Elliot, Oliver, and Silas; great grandson, Bentley; 6 siblings, Shirley, Bob, Jerry, Tom, Annita, and Pamela; and a host of extended family and friends.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and 6 siblings, Frank, Wayne, June, Terry, Ona Jo, and Peggy.

The family will hold a Memorial Service at 10:00 am, Friday, January 31, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Collinsville.
