Jerry Kay Williams, 71, of Nowata, Oklahoma went to be with our Lord Thursday, March 26, 2015. He was born April 21, 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Ralph and Wilma Williams. After attending Berryhill High School he worked for Don Spoon at various Red Bud stores, having spent the most time at Plaza Red Bud Stores for twenty years. He later came to own and run Talala Grocery. While residing in Talala, Jerry held the title of mayor for twelve consecutive years. Among the plethora of achievements he accomplished as mayor, he was most proud of his role in the creation of the Talala Police Department and Historical Society. He helped to jumpstart the Annual Talala Festival that continues to remain as a yearly staple of the community, reviving the town that he so dearly loved. He married his lifelong sweetheart, Lisa Wallander and together raised 7 children, and has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During the latter part of his life, he came to hold the Nowata County Republican Party Chairperson seat in which he was able to fulfill his lifetime passion of political interest. Jerry was a Godly man who cared for and loved his family more than anything else.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Charles Ralph Williams; mother, Wilma Jane Lollis; brothers, Lloyd Bryant Williams and Charles Faye Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa of the home; son, Jerry Von Williams and wife, Jacque of Owasso; son, Kelly Shawn Williams and wife, Kathy of Talala; daughter, Angel Dawn Muly and husband, Dan of Jenks; daughter, Cheri Jon Garcia and husband, Danny Joe of Catoosa; son, Jeremiah Jason Williams and wife, Cheryl of Nowata; daughter, Sarah Anne Lacy and husband, Tory of Alva; daughter, Kaylisa Williams of Nowata; twenty-one grandchildren, Tasha Simms, Kristen Williams, Derek and Miles Marlar, Heath, Brenden, Leslie and Matt Williams, Lindsey Kantola, Shane Reed, Drew, Adam and Isaac Muly, Slaid Reed, Dani Patterson, Chera Garcia, Leo, Wyatt and Jasper Williams, Abagail and Heyley Lacy; twelve great-grandchildren, Tylee and Krista Peterson, Josephine Simms, Alex Ben and Cecily Marlar, Ella and Crew Kantola, Layla, Lincoln and Logan Livezey, Adelaide and Cohen Patterson; twelve loving honorary daughters, Dianna Harmon, Michelle Bowers, LeAnn, Shelly and Kaili Sushnik, Jessy Jones, Britni Benfer, Lindsey Phillips, Chelsey Ferrel, Kaela Penn, Brooklyn Stewart, Danielle Matheson and her son, Aiden.
Services are to be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 1 at the First Baptist Church of Talala with Lester Orwig officiating. Interment is to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Talala under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
