James "Jimmie" Leroy Johns

James “Jimmie” Leroy Johns of Owasso, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the age of 86.  Jimmie was born on June 27, 1937, to Chester and Kathryn (Link) Johns in Dewey, Oklahoma.  After graduating from Talala, he married his high school sweetheart Patsy Wofford.  They remained lifelong members of the area until his passing.  Jimmie received a bachelor’s degree in education and became a Woodshop Teacher.  He was employed with Tulsa Public Schools until his retirement, having taught at various TPS schools such as Roosevelt and East Central.  Jimmie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville where he was active in the choir.  In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and socializing.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Johns; his son Chris Johns and wife Dana, and daughter Tammy Bingham and Bob Brady; 2 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Kathryn Johns; and 2 brothers, Ralph and Tex Johns.

Visitation for Jimmie will be held Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, with the family receiving guests from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Collinsville with guest pastor Mike Thomas and Dr. Tim Prock officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Talala.
