James Richard Hayes, Sr.

James Richard Hayes Sr, 87, was ushered into the Lord’s presence on February 7, 2025. He was married to the love of his life, Phyllis, for almost 65 years.

Born to Matthew and Margaret Hayes and raised in Olpe, Kansas, he was the fourth of nine siblings, and he is survived by 2 sisters, Sharon Stine and Sandy Stromer.

He graduated from Olpe High School in 1956 and followed his 2 older brothers into the Navy. He proudly served our country from 1956-1960. He and Phyllis married on June 26, 1960, and settled in Vera, Oklahoma where they raised 4 kids on a farm in the country. He supported the family by working at McDonnell Douglas and after early retirement from there, he and Phyllis bought and ran Break Time video in their hometown of Collinsville, OK

He is survived by his wife Phyllis, and his children Rick Hayes, spouse Sheri Hayes, Stacy Madden, spouse Bryan Madden, Scott Hayes, spouse Sonia Hayes, Cathryn Dodson, spouse James Dodson. He is survived by 8 grandchildren-Seth Hayes; Brandon, Courtney, & Gillian Madden; Amanda, Audrey, and Andrea Hayes; Mattie Dodson and 3 great-grandchildren-Isabelle Madden; Benedict and Westley Hoff; and Baby boy Duffy.
