James Samuel Duncan

November 24, 1925 — April 11, 2009

James Samuel Duncan, of Collinsville, OK passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009 in Collinsville. He was 83. James was born November 24, 1925 in Rose, OK to James and Maude Duncan. He served in the Navy during WWII, and was stationed on the USS Chenango also known as the “Lucky Lady.” In the 50’s he played baseball for the local Collinsville team and baseball remained a passion throughout his life. James was the owner of Duncan Service Station for many years. He was a member of the VFW and loved working in his garden. He will be missed by many.

James is survived by 4 children, Marsha Nutting and her husband Jim of Broken Arrow, Steve Duncan of Oklahoma City, Donna Ghazanfari and her husband Ali of Edmond, and David Duncan and his wife Julie of Collinsville; 2 brothers, Leroy Duncan and his wife Sarah of Broken Arrow, and Herman Duncan and his wife Dorothy; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, family and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents James and Maude Duncan; his wife Fay Duncan; and 4 siblings, Hazel, Leta, Orville, and Irvin.

Visitation for James will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Eastside Baptist Church in Collinsville with Pastor David Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville. Under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
