Jack Arthur Bennett

June 8, 1925 — September 26, 2012

Jack Arthur Bennett was born June 8, 1925, and went to his reward in heaven on September 26, 2012. He enjoyed a long life of 87 years. He was born in Britton, Oklahoma to Joe Arthur Bennett and Waneta Violet Harris Bennett. Following the death of his mother in 1940, Jack moved to Tulsa where he lived with his Aunt, Edith Violet Harris Brown and his Uncle, Norman P. Brown; DDS. He attended the Will Rogers High School for a brief time before transferring to the Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore, Oklahoma in the Fall of 1941. He would graduate from Oklahoma Military Academy in the Spring of 1943. Upon Graduation, Jack entered into the United States Naval Air Corps. He would train to become a pilot at the Great Lakes Training Center. He would later be released from the Air Corps in the Fall of 1945. In October of 1944 he took the former Alyce Joyce Stevens as his bride. This union would be blessed with the birth of two daughters: Barbee Ann in 1945 and Beverly Anita in 1947. During his time of employment with the Shell Oil Company, Jack entered the Tulsa University in the Fall of 1945 on his G.I. Bill benefits. He would graduate from Tulsa University and began working full-time for Shell Oil in 1946. He would remain with the Shell Oil Company until his retirement in 1983 after 37 years of service.

In addition to his two daughters, he was blessed with 3 grandsons: Benjamin Bennett Abrams ,1972, Gregory Todd Abrams,1973, and Erik Steven Abrams, 1976 and with 3 great grandsons: Jack Arthur Abrams, 2010, Hudson Argo Abrams, 2011, and Henry Flynn Abrams, 2012.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Ridgelawn Cemetery with Rev. Helmer Johnson officiating. Local services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
