Hershel Ray Kilgore

Hershel Kilgore born Sept. 19th, 1942 to Lathan and Ada Kilgore in Antlers Ok., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 23, at the age of 71. He and his wife Bev., live in Oologah Ok. & are members of the First Baptist Church of Oologah where funeral services were held October 28th 2013.

Hershel and Beverly celebrated 52 wonderful and loving years of marriage on Sept 24th 2013. Together they raised their 3 sons, Kyle, Kevin, and Kurt, each graduating from Oologah Talala public school. Kevin proceeded Hershel in death at age 41. The years of raising his sons are the most memorable to Hershel while he enjoyed coaching them in the Little League program, watching their sports events in school and attending proudly each graduation.

More memorable years included being present at the birth of each grandchild, Kara, Jane, Jordan, Kody and Kaitlin and the many years of travels made by our families to enjoy special family time.

Hershel served 4 years in the US Air Force. He worked for Horn Brothers Furniture Co. before moving to Oologah in 1972 as owner operator of Kilgore Service and Grocery. He later purchased Conley Trucking Co. Inc. and moved to Tulsa where he was U.S. Postal Contractor until he sold the business in 2011 and returned to Oologah to retire.

He enjoyed sports, gardening, helping his wife in her Craft business, traveling, his friends and the family gatherings. These family gatherings will be remembered by his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews as a time Hershel always brought out the board games such as Monopoly or Sequence and everyone joined the laughter & challenge.

Hershel is survived by his wife Beverly of the home, his sons, Kyle of Colorado, Kurt and wife Rhonda of Commerce Georgia, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

He was the youngest of 7 children, Don, Sylvia, Ralph, Lavon, Wilma and Auzela. He was proceeded in death by both parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Hershel will be missed by many loving family members and the multitude of friends he met throughout his life.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013 and 1:30 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Oologah with Rev. Larry Downum officiating with interment following at the Oakhill Cemetery in Oologah. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. www.collinsvillefh.com
