George Howard Williams

July 17, 1918 — August 31, 2008

George Howard Williams of Oologah-Talala, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 in Collinsville. He was 90. George was born July 17, 1918 in Lewisville, TX to Nathan and Laura Williams. He served in the Army during WWII and was involved in several Veterans organizations and began many community projects in the Dawson area. George worked as a Machinist at American Airlines for 20 years before his retirement. He loved doing yardwork, especially mowing and gardening. Throughout his life he helped raise 12 loving children. He will be missed by many.

George is survived by 6 children, Audy Dixon and her husband Freddie of Oologah-Talala, Tom Williams and his wife Eve of Texas, Donna Black, Diane Rutherford and her husband Bill, Norman Williams and his wife Ilene, Marianita Lafayette all of Jay, OK; 4 step-children, Don Ward of Claremore, Irene Wilson and her husband Paul of Talala, Ilene Williams, and Barbara Haney and her husband Roland of Claremore; 2 sisters, Alice Zerby and Deeda Merritt; 24 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great Grandchild; numerous family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 spouses, his first wife, Lucille (McQuerry) and his second Erma (Snow); 2 sons, Charles Howard Williams and Larry James Williams; and 2 sisters, Margaret Lowery and Dorothy Thornton.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the George Williams Residence, 2690 E 390 Rd Unit A Talala, OK 74080.
